Beach!

We went to the beach on Monday; sort of a Memorial Day tradition.

It wasn't the best trip. There was some weird jellyfish epidemic and they were washed up everywhere, I was the only kid who didn't get stung, the water was green for some reason... and there was a storm.

Well, the storm was actually the fun part. We saw the black line of rain on the horizon and packed up, and the rain reached us just as we were heading back to the cars. Poor tourists... should've watched us natives. One canopy went flying among yelps and shrieks.

So. Sunburns, jellyfish stings, shell cuts, and sand in places it should never have made its way to... pretty much sums up the beach.

Bye! I might get another post in before the road trip, but during, they'll be few and far between.

'Ride and Road

Missed my second-to-last day at Freedom Ride thanks to a nasty cold. :( Hopefully I'll be well enough to go on Thursday (which I like better, anyway). It's not my last day - I'm just not going to be working through the summer. And why not?

'Cause I'm going on a road trip. =D

Now, on normal occasions, I wouldn't be so excited to miss a whole two months of Freedom Ride, but this road trip goes through a few important stops.

1. Missouri - friends recently moved there.

2. Nebraska - my great aunt!

3. Montana - Ellie!!! I've 'known' her for almost three (?) years, and I'm finally gonna get to meet her!

4. Washington - a whoooooooole lotta family. :)

5. Oregon - Canyonview Equestrian College! This is a special one; it's my dream college, and I'm gonna be there at a camp for a whole week (compliments of my grandparents :)) for my birthday!

6. Nothing really special on the way home, but a good amount of scenery. =D

7. Another out-of-the-ordinary thing is that my brother, Ben, is going to help out with the driving. We've been on plenty of road trips, but that's something we haven't done before! (And I'm not quite sure how I feel about it... :P)

And then back home. But my parents decided that I shouldn't volunteer for the summer sign-up - since I'll only be able to go the first two and the last weeks. Might as well take a break.

(By the way, I'd love to get pictures at Freedom Ride, but I have to have permission from the parents to have the students in the pictures, and sometimes the parents are a little hard to contact. =/)

First Post

Starting a blog, writing that first post, has such an exhilarating rush to it. But it's also incredibly awkward. For example, I have no idea who, if anyone, is reading it. Do I introduce myself, or go on as if everyone knows me? Do I jump right in and describe what's happening in my life right now, or do I wait and do a little introduction?

So, whether or not it's the best thing to do, I decided to 'snitch' this from Ellie's blog.

Age: Almost fifteen! Two more months!
Bed Size: Twin mattress, but it's on stilts, so does that mean anything?
Chore you Hate: Hmm... probably dishes. But sweeping is a close second (wood floor, with dogs that shed so much I'm surprised they're not bald).
Dogs: Our man-eating chihuahua, Grizzly, is totally devoted to my mom, and our rat terrier, Thunder, is completely black, smart and dumb at the same time, and is constantly trying to drown himself in the pool. Go figure.
Essential start of your day: My mom dragging me out of bed. (Figuratively, of course.)
Favorite Color: Any shade of blue - pale, forest, and mint greens - lavender and royal purple.
Gold or Silver: Silver, by a long shot.
